It was more than coffee that made Eddy Berrouard perk up, after learning he won $1 million from the June 17 Lotto 6/49 draw.

“I was at home in the kitchen having a coffee,” said Berrouard. “I noticed there were a lot of zeros in the number.”

After using the BCLC Lotto! App to check his ticket, the Courtenay resident shared the exciting news with his siblings and coworkers. “They were very happy for me!”

Thanks to his win, Berrouard plans to visit his family in Quebec, purchase a car and travel to Seattle and Colorado to watch baseball games.

So, what else is next for this avid baseball fan?

“I also love Hawaii, I was there for my birthday last year and wanted to go back, and now I most likely will! I will also share [some winnings] with my family to make sure they get to go on nice holidays as well.”

Berrouard purchased the winning ticket at a lottery kiosk at Driftwood Mall in Courtenay.

So far in 2023, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $60 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
