April 30, 1937 - July 11, 2023
In loving memory ~
Bunny passed away on July 11, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born in Brighton, England coming into this world as a tiny babe on April 30, 1937. The nurses of the time felt she wouldn't survive and recommended her mom leave her with them and let nature take its course. Her mom staunchly refused and took little Olive home. Olive slept in a dresser drawer cozily tucked behind the cook stove for the first few months of her life. As a child, she and her sister were raised around farming and gardening. After her schooling, she entered into nurses' training with her interest in Psychiatry. During that time while a night out with friends she caught the eye of Robbie who interestingly enough needed a pen. Of course, she offered hers. And so began their life story together. They were wed in England and as Robbie was in the Air Force, Bunny entered into life as a 'service mans' wife. A poem of hers was published 'The Moving Kind' of which a couple of lines read "The life of a service wife is hard, But there's more to life than your own back yard.". She enjoyed the travel and adventures this life had to offer. Upon retirement, the family moved to Courtenay. Bunny would continue to take up any opportunity to travel and explore. Hikes, spelunking, road trips around the Island with family and friends, Casino trips, Mexico, and Maui were only some of her memorable adventures.
Bunny (a nickname given because she would scrunch her nose to push her glasses up) was a kind, giving person who handled people around her with respect and caring attention. She rarely passed by without offering a smile.
She was a Queen, a coach, a traveller, a naturalist, a collector, a dear friend, a confidant, a gifted healer, an artist, and a poet.
Our hearts ache, and at the same time, we celebrate with fortune and gratefulness for having such a beautiful soul in our lives. She embodied grace, modelled love, gratitude, acceptance, and forgiveness. We admired and adored her.
Bunny was predeceased by her husband John 'Robbie' Robinson and her son John 'Johnny' Robinson. She will be missed by her son Keith (Rose) of Vanderhoof, her daughter Wendy (John) of Courtenay, and her daughter-in-law Mary-Ann of Courtenay. Her grandchildren, Elaina (Lou), Cassidy, Brandy, Corrina (Doug), Nathan(Angel), Dayton, Candace (Greg), Cody and Regis along with a basket full of great-grandchildren.
