The Alberni Valley Multiplex houses twin rinks and is home to the BC Hockey League Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs have added a goaltender to their roster ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The Bulldogs announced on June 26 that they have added 2004-born goaltender Colin Winn to their roster.

Winn is 19 years old and is from Westford, Massachusetts. The six-foot and 190-pound goaltender catches left and has played the last two seasons with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL, where he appeared in 48 games. In two postseason appearances, he had a goals against average of 1.26 and a save percentage of 0.923. Winn was a part of the Phantoms' march to the Clark Cup title in 2022-23.

Winn is committed to play NCAA Div. I Hockey with the St. Lawrence University Saints, where he’ll be a teammate of former Bulldogs captain Nicholas Beneteau.

Winn says he is "very excited" to have the opportunity to play for the Bulldogs.

"I signed in Alberni for my last year of junior because of the great facilities in Hockey Valley, and to have a chance to win the Fred Page Cup," he said. "I’m very excited to see the Dawg Pound buzzing in the future.”

Head coach and general manager Joe Martin said it's important to have "a great team guy" in net.

"Colin is motivated to win and have a big season before he goes to St. Lawrence," Martin said. "I’m excited he chose to be a Bulldog”

Goalie coach Jamie McCaig said Winn has a mix of athleticism and technique in net that will allow him to follow in the footsteps of former Bulldogs goaltenders like Callum Tung and Hobie Hedquist.

“I am really excited to work with Colin this season," McCaig said. "Once we watched him on video I knew he would be a great addition to the Bulldogs."

ICE CHIPS...The Bulldogs have announced their exhibition schedule for the 2024-25 preseason. The team will open the preseason at home with a game against the Victoria Grizzlies on Sept. 6 and will finish at home against the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Sept. 13.
